Adam Ant: The Alien Writing Mystery

On December 31st 1979, I attended a concert by Adam and the Ants at the Electric Ballroom in London. I think it was probably around midnight, when the new decade was beginning, that some flyers were thrown into the audience (Adam often produced special flyers for concerts, self-designed). The one I picked up off the floor had been a bit trampled - here it is...

Six years later, a great book called UFO CRASH AT AZTEC by William Steinman was published by UFO Photo Archives, USA.

On page 41, is a sample of script, which is described as "..very similar to that found in the Aztec Flying Saucer.." It is also alleged that "The book found aboard was turned over to General George C.Marshall, who sent the symbols to Dr.William F.Friedman and Lambros P.Callihamos for study and interpretation."

Here is that sample of allegedly alien script...

At some point during the next couple of years, I came to notice that there was a similarity between this script and some script that appears in the lower right-hand area of the Adam Ant Electric Ballroom hand-out. I've now, about 10 years later, compared more carefully the two, and my analysis is below the Adam Ant script shown here...

Comparison of Adam Ant script with alleged sample of alien writing

The correlation between these two scripts is remarkably high.

In the Adam Ant writing there is, on the top row:

A circle with a dot in the middle, which occurs many times in the alien writing.

What seems to be an equilateral triangle with missing baseline (^) replaced by a dot. In the alien script, equilateral triangles with no baseline occur - one or two have a dot to one side.

Two vertical lines downward, not dissimilar to a colon (twice). In the alien script a colon-type symbol (:) occurs.

In the Adam Ant writing there is on the lower line:

What seems to be an exclamation mark-type symbol. An exclamation mark-type symbol occurs next to the end of the alien script.

Two straight vertical lines(||). Straight vertical lines are in the alien script.

A symbol like the less-than sign in mathematics (<). This is the same as the equilateral triangle with missing baseline turned on its side.

There are three symbols in the Adam Ant writing that definitely can't be found in identical or similar form in the alien writing:

A square with baseline missing. A capital Z. A Greek-type letter similar to capital E in English.

However, even these three letters are not radically out of keeping with the alien script, in which can be found squares/ triangles with missing baseline; the equivalent of inverted 'z's flattened vertically, and various symbols not very dissimilar to the third-named letter.

Finally, the lower line of the Adam Ant writing seems to have somewhat curved lines underneath one or two of the shapes, which so far as they can be made out on my copy, seem identical to curved lines that appear below shapes in the alien script.

I submit that the similarity between these two samples of writing is definitely too great to be attributed just to coincidence, and further investigation as to the origin of both scripts is warranted.
