Star People, Light People
"When Angela was fourteen, she had written an essay called 'The Light People.' It stated that the prophets, messiahs, and great historical characters were actually aliens or the offspring of alien beings. David was most definitely a Light Person. He listened knowingly. She had stumbled on the truth…" [From 'Stardust' by Tony Zanetta & Henry Edwards]
"STAR PEOPLE, human beings who claim to have memories of having come to this planet from somewhere else or who have supposedly experienced interaction with paranormal entities since childhood. The term was coined by writer Brad Steiger. James Beal, a former NASA engineer, refers to such people as "the Helpers" because of their alleged mission to serve as guides in mankind's future evolution…" [From 'The Ufo Encyclopedia' by Margaret Sachs]
In 1985, a single was released by Angie Bowie & Chico Rey - "Crying (In The Dark)" b/w "Closer To Heaven." At the time, a friend of my brother called
Ben Goldstein edited an award-winning university magazine called Arrows, which covered art, music, literature etc. We liked the record, and had the idea that I would interview Angie Bowie for Arrows, as I had a promo copy of the record with a name - Kim Glover - and phone number written on a sticker on the sleeve. My brother Jef phoned Kim Glover with the intention of arranging an interview, but she told him that an interview wasn't possible, because she was sueing Angie for not paying for the publicity work she'd done on the record.
In April 1986, I went to see Angie Bowie do a show at the Fulham Greyhound. During that year, the biography 'Stardust: The Life and Times of David Bowie' came out, which includes the reference to a school essay 'The Light People.' If the account of Zanetta and Edwards is basically correct, it would have been written four or five years before Angela met David, and more than ten years prior to the publication of 'Gods Of Aquarius: UFOs and the Transformation of Man,' Brad Steiger's first book dealing with his Star People concept.
It is not only remarkable that Mary Angela Barnett (her full name at the time) should have written this essay back in the mid-1960s that connected so well with the research findings of subsequent decades, but also that her phrase 'Light People' has actually been used by Brad Steiger and others as another term for 'Star People' - without we might assume them being remotely aware of its earlier use by the future wife of David Bowie.
