Artist: Odilon Redon
Title: Eye-Balloon
Date: 1878

This is a charcoal drawing by the French artist Odilon Redon (1840-1916). It is probably one of his best-known works, and is in the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
120 years after this picture was created, a photograph of an eyeball-like UFO was featured in Alien Encounters magazine, including on their front cover -
Alien Encounters,
April 1998.
According to the article: 'The picture was taken in Pustelnik, Poland by Ireneusz Korejwo at approximately 6.10pm, somewhere between 27th-30th June 1995. Neither Mr Korejwo nor his wife saw the object when taking the photo, so were understandably surprised when they received their film back from the developers. The other shots on the roll were completely normal...'
Seemingly, the eyeball UFO was positioned, airborne, behind a clothesline at the moment that the photo was taken. Here is a close-up, provided by the magazine -

And, here it is alongside Redon's famous Eye-Balloon picture of 1878
