Artist: Wassily Kandinsky
Title: Depressed
Date: 1929

Russian painter, born in Moscow and considered the pioneer of abstract art, Wassily Kandinsky's work includes at least several paintings that - although he died as early as 1940 - can be linked beyond reasonable doubt to the UFO phenomena.
This example is clearly similar to the 'scout ship' with spheres on the underside, first publicised through George Adamski's famous photographs (1952/3).
It is an oil on cardboard work, held (I think) by the Solomon R.Guggenheim Museum, New York, and was painted during the long period when Kandinsky was teaching at the Bauhaus.

Here are two depictions - a sketch and a photograph - of the scout craft with
spheres on underside by witnesses to this type of UFO...
This first is a sketch by Stephen Darbishire (source: FSR Vol.10
No.1), made before the two photographs he took had been developed of
the craft he witnessed with cousin Adrian Meyers on Coniston Down, February
1954.

Secondly, a photograph taken by Tom O'Bannon, 30 miles east of Winona, Missouri,
U.S.A., at 4pm on 20th October 1957. Mr.O'Bannon had seen another craft beside
his house two days earlier.
Here is part of the description of the circumstances behind this one, written
by Mrs.Fanny Lowrey:
'Two days later.. the same man was occupied in trying to get a picture of
a kitten and a puppy tusseling on the back patio, behind his house, when suddenly
they scattered as though frightened from something. Turning to look over his
shoulder O'Bannon saw another flying disc, smaller in size and thicker in
proportion to width than the bigger one. This one was very low above the yard,
below treetop level, and was rising and retracting some kind of understructure
beneath it that may have been extended more before he saw it. It was abot
15 to 20 feet in diameter, had a transparent dome on top and was of a brushed
metallic silver color, quite bright. It was soundless and was rising quite
rapidly. He was only able to turn and snap the one picture before it was too
far away for another...'
