Nina Writes Song For UFO-Boy
"During the night I was taken out of this world by a UFO!" With this claim, Andreas Schneider (16) from Frankfurt, made the headlines in BRAVO, issue 11/83. At the time letters from readers flooded in to the editor. Then little more was heard about him. Now Andreas is again in the spotlight.
This time, however, not with his extraterrestrial friends from the planet 'Humo,' but with the German Rock singer Nina Hagen. How did this come about? Two weeks ago he received an express letter postmarked London. Sender: Nina Hagen. Nina Hagen has also been claiming for a long time to have seen UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) and to have had contact with Extraterrestrials.
Two days later the telephone rings: an impudent voice with a Berlin accent on the other end of the line: "Hi Andreas, this is Nina, did you get my letter? I'm sending you a cassette as well. Have a listen to it!" Andreas was on top of the world: "It was incredible when she called me up, total love. No star pretensions at all."
As to the question of what could be heard on the aforementioned cassette, Andreas seemed very secretive: "Um.. Nina has written a song about me, called "Die UFOs und der Boy.""
The tale of Nina Hagen and UFO-boy Andreas didn't, however, end there. When Nina tackles something, she does it thoroughly. She realised before long, what she'd already announced in her last letter: she wanted to meet Andreas in person. For a woman of Nina Hagen's stature, no problem.
Saturday, 18th May, Frankfurt Airport. Andreas stands impatiently in Terminal B, with his mother and sister Jaschi (9). He has already waited half an hour for the plane from Zurich. Twenty to One. A bright yellow mop of hair. Nina? "There she is," shouts Jaschi loudly all around her. Andreas now leaves his isolated position and runs into the main hall. Glaring pastel-yellow hair, blue and white striped T-Shirt and snakeskin trousers: Nina! It's her! "Hello, both of you, hi Andreas, glad you've come," she calls over to them.
But it was Jaschi, rather than Andreas, who was the first to return the greeting. Before Andreas had caught sight of her, Jaschi was already taking Nina in her arms and stealing the show from Andreas...
He enjoyed all the more then the joint meal (Chinese) with Nina's crew and the journey to Mannheim, where the soundcheck took place for the first German concert in Giessen. Food and travel to Mannheim were, according to Nina's road manager Peretz, altogether more private. At last the two were alone by themselves to discuss their mutual friends from the faraway universe...
