Turquoise

In December 1967, David Bowie made his first appearances as Cloud, described by Lindsay Kemp as "a kind of protean narrator-figure," in Pierrot In Turquoise. He sang his own songs in the play - 'When I Live My Dream'; 'Sell Me A Coat'; 'Threepenny Pierrot'; 'Columbine,' and 'The Mirror.'

According to director/co-performer Lindsay Kemp, the 'Turquoise' part of the title was suggested by David, who was very keen on Tibetan Buddhism at the time, "..as it was the Buddhist symbol of everlastingness..."

In August of the following year, David Bowie used the name Turquoise for his new group, in which he was joined his girlfriend Hermione Farthingale, and guitarist Tony Hill.

There was another group around at the time also named Turquoise, and this could have been the reason for the name change to Feathers. Alternatively, the change of personnel (Tony Hill leaving) might have inspired the change of name.

On 27th March 1991, David Icke, described in Evening Standard as "..former TV sports presenter and Green Party activist" held a press conference that resulted in a great amount of press coverage and public debate in Britain.

Here is an excerpt from a news report on the day:

"..Mr.Icke (or 'The Son of God', who claims he is in regular touch with the spirit of the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates) predicted a catalogue of disasters this year in what was dubbed his Ides of March Revelations.

The disasters will occur as the earth seeks to rid itself of energies trapped by evil feelings, he said.
Mr.Icke, 38, said if a balance was not found by 1997 'the rest of creation will have no choice but to cut off planet Earth from the energy system...'

Mr.Icke made his predictions at a news conference in London where he was joined by his wife Linda, 41, daughter Kerry, 16, and friend Deborah Schawsun, 30. Linda and Deborah now prefer to be known as Michaela and Mari.

All were dressed in turquoise tracksuits.

Mr.Icke revealed they were souls sent to combat the spirits of Lucifer. He said: 'I channel an energy known as the Christ Spirit. Christ isn't a person, it's an energy known as pure love and wisdom and it resonates to the same frequency as the colour turquoise..." Peter Gruner, Evening Standard.
