SOME THINGS ARE MEANT TO BE

"Immortality fascinated him. He was real intrigued with cloning, and he was fascinated by how far medicine had come" Billy Smith, quoted in 'Elvis Aaron Presley'

THE ELVIS PRESLEY 2001 ENIGMA

The beginning of the film '2001:A Space Odyssey' is accompanied by Richard Strauss' 'Also Sprach Zarathustra.'

Elvis Presley later used this 'Theme from 2001' to begin his concerts during the 1970s.

'2001:A Space Odyssey' was directed, produced and co-written by Stanley Kubrick.

One of Elvis Presley's step brothers is named Rick Stanley.

The name of the leading character and the director/producer/co-writer of '2001' are Dave Bowman and Stanley Kubrick.

Another of Elvis' step brothers is David Stanley, who has said: "Elvis' mind was so far advanced and different from the everyday person's. He was almost like an alien - the closest thing I've seen to a true 'leader.'"

There is a spaceship in the film named Orion.

A man whose performing style resembles Elvis Presley has recorded for Sun using the name Orion.

Gail Brewer-Giorgio wrote a novel about a singer who resembles Elvis Presley and fakes his own death. His name and the name of Ms.Giorgio's novel is Orion.

The space station in '2001,' which Orion docks with, is named the Orbiter Hilton.

A venue that Elvis Presley performed in on very many occasions during the 1970s was the Las Vegas Hilton.

Elvis Presley - so we are told - died on August 16th 1977.

8 + 16 + 1977 = 2001.

The film '2001' features Leonard Rossiter in one of the nine leading roles.

Leonard Rossiter later starred in a British TV series, called 'The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin,' about a man who had faked his own death.

In '2001:A Space Odyssey,' a BBC interviewer asks the character Frank Poole what hibernation is like.

The book 'Elvis:We Love You Tender' relates that: "Elvis Presley had a deeply ingrained fascination with death, which became the underlying curiosity for his search for knowledge about life. He wanted to 'understand' it and turned to thanatopsis - the contemplation of death - as a natural interest after his own mother's death.." Billy Stanley: "He read about the cases of people dying and being brought back to life, and how beautiful it was to die. He called death the best thing that could happen to you."
