Cigar-Shaped Object
Over Melbourne, Australia, 1954
'Within a seven day period in June, 1954, an object described as cylinder or cigar-shaped was reported over Melbourne. One witness said that her wristwatch stopped at 6.23pm and the batteries in her small flashlight went dead while the object was nearby. At close range a canopy with a window on top could be seen as well as a window at each end of the silver coloured cylinder. witnesses in the suburb of Maldon said that "dark shapes" could be seen within the craft. A policeman reported that the object hovered near the ground close to where he was standing, and he could see the shadows of people inside before it sped away.
A radio announcer, who sighted the object from another suburb of Melbourne,
said he was leaving the home of some friends when he heard a sound like the
dial tone of a telephone. When the object reached its lowest point, shapes
like human forms could be seen. He said his friends were too amazed to talk
for several seconds: "We were so impressed that each of us wrote down
our individual impressions and they tallied almost exactly!" An official
of the Australian Broadcasting Commission, who was in the same group said
that if he had seen the same shapes in an aircraft, he would have said they
were people.'

'October 2. At Croix d'Epine, a young mechanic was riding his motorscooter when he saw a brilliantly illuminated object, shaped like an egg, which landed on the left side of the road about 15 metres away from him. He thought he could see short, dark shapes 'like potato bags' moving about the object. He sped up and, reaching the top of the hill, he looked back: then he saw the object, compared to a 'small bus' in size, whose colour had changed from orange to blue and then to blue-grey, and which took off. the witness was in a state of shock when he arrived in the village and fainted when he told his story. Two women made independent reports of the object.'

'One of the very few "ufonaut" incidents recounted during the flap occurred to three girls and three unidentified men from Grand Forks, North Dakota. About 11.30 p.m. the girls - Becky Aanestad, Becky Evanson, and Sylvia Hoialmen, all about 20 years of age - stopped their car near the Lincoln Park golf course to observe what they took to be a beautiful harvest moon, only to notice seconds later that the real moon was behind them. What they were watching was something for which nothing in their experience had prepared them. "It was a weird feeling," one of them noted later...
Resting on the ground about a block and a half into the golf course, an unknown object "blinked black and white," revealing a transparent, circular shape. Miss Evanson said the UFO looked "just like the moon when it's huge and when real yellow - a clear yellow kind of." There was "something... moving inside like a silhouette."
Miss Hoialmen commented on alleged "little figures inside" which.. "could not be distinguished clearly."...'

A husband and wife - Carla and Mauro Bellingeri (26 year olds) - had been driving close to home when Mauro noticed a bright object moving around the sky. When the 'thing' had fallen vertically to a position about 12-13 metres above the ground, the couple got a good view of it. Their attention was almost entirely concentrated on the domed upper portion of the object: '..which they described as the "cockpit," a feature that was bright, but not particularly so..
The Bellingeris stated that they could see three seemingly human shapes (they called them "people" in the "cockpit") arranged in a horizontal row in what was assumed to be the front of the dome. A lightly shaded zone surrounded the three darker silhouettes which seemed to make slight movements. The outermost silhouette, which seemed similar to the other two, was nearest to the witnesses...'

A close encounter was experienced by Elsie Oakensen, driving on a main road near Church Stowe, in the late-afternoon of November 22nd. It began with the sighting of two very bright lights - green and red - in the sky above the road, which it became apparent was actually '..an hour-glass or egg-timer shape with a light under each circular end.'
Subsequent events are reported by Jenny Randles in her book 'Abduction,' including Ms.Oakensen's understanding that after the sighting, she reached her home 'ten or fifteen minutes later than it ought to have been.' Two days after a hypnosis session, in August 1979, the witness recalled some of the close encounter:
'Elsie felt the tightening as the car slowed down the first time. "I got hotter and hotter... The pressure hurt my head." Then a brilliant "pure white light, very bright" hit her full on from the front. It throbbed with circles radiating out from the centre. "The pain in my head was intense.. I felt no reaction in my legs.. I was very frightened." Then two shapes appeared, silhouetted against the glow. Both were grey. They were hazy but from her drawings could be taken as 'people.'
Afterwards, Elsie Oakensen said she felt as if she had been "selected, scanned, promised a return visit, then ultimately rejected."...'
