"Puffed barley may be no food for kings,
but it is fit food for angels"

July 7 1947 - california, usa.
'..Two
farmers harvesting barley noticed the sun reflecting off three "rows"
of discs flying overhead.. at least 25 craft (were) flying at great speed..
with an up and down and side to side tipping motion. Before they passed out
of sight the three row formation changed into a perfect V formation.'

October 1963 - West Sussex, UK.
'Farmer Alfred Gadd peered down the mysterious 20ft deep hole in his barley
field at Fittleworth and scratched his head. "Never seen anything like
this before," he said.
"But I suppose someone will start saying it was made by a flying saucer
from outer space."
Bomb disposal experts - who also investigated the Wiltshire turnip field riddle
- were called in, but were non-committal. No full-scale digging operations
were started, although the soldiers left nothing to chance, squelching across
the muddy stubble to probe around the hole with a detector.
They found nothing. Still, they are coming back to have another look,
because a 1,000 lb bomb could have buried itself up to 40ft deep in soft earth.
Mr.Gadd, aged 65, of Fitzleroi Farm, thinks the 2ft wide hole could have been
caused by an unexploded German bomb during World War II. "I have heard
them fall but I didn't hear them go off," he said. "We have been
ploughing this field for 30 years and the hole appeared after the combine
harvester had gone over the spot to cut the barley."
Bomb or no bomb, it won't stop him working in the field. The only clue that
there is a hole is a bale of straw sticking up in the middle of some of the
most isolated countryside in West Sussex.
And that's been there to stop some unsuspecting rambler from falling down
the hole.'

'Until
Army bomb experts visit Rockingham's farm, Layer Marney,
the mystery of the crater in the barley field will remain unsolved.
The sudden appearance of the crater, about 5ft by 3ft 6in, was reported to
the police by the farmer, Mr.J.W.Black. He found it in a field of young barley,
with the crops around the crater flattened.
A puzzling feature of the crater is three 3in holes, arranged in a triangular
shape near one side of it, that extend 3ft into the ground.
The police are unable to offer any clue as to what had caused the hole, but
among the theories advanced so far is that it was caused by a meteorite or
some object dropping from an aircraft.'

July 1967 - Whippenham, Isle Of Wight.
Sightings of a white, apparently disc-shaped UFO by
boys attending Whippingham Primary School on the morning of July 10th, were
followed by one of the witnesses noticing marks in a barley field adjoining
the school playground.
An investigation by Leonard Cramp and others found that several barley fields
in the immediate area were damaged. The damage was found to be consistent
with the witnessed trajectory of the unidentified flying object. Other explanations
were considered and ruled out.
A report compiled by Leonard Cramp featured on the front cover and six pages of the May/June 1968 issue of Flying Saucer Review, and must be considered a classic with respect to physical traces associated with UFOs.
JulY 1969 - Northamptonshire, UK.
'Several
young children in the small Northamptonshire village of Irthlingborough claimed,
on July 16, 1969, to have seen a flashing red object land in a field near
the village during the previous evening.
Two young sisters, Sharon and Denise Cuddihy, said
they saw the strange object from their bedroom window.
Ten-year-old Denise said: "When it landed in the field it turned into
a number of flashing yellow light. The whole sky seemed to turn a pale blue
colour at the same time."
Sharon said they told their father about it and he came to have a look.
However, he did not know what it was.
Several other children in the village also witnessed the mystery object, including
five young boys camping in a tent for the night. One of them, Kevin Spence,
11, said: "It came hurtling through the air and flashing on and off red
before it came down in the barley field at the back of the house."
Next day, cautious mothers refused to allow the children to explore the field.
The local police received no reports of the object.'

FEBRUARY 25 1976 - NORTHERN SPAIN.
'The
newspaper La Voz de Galicia quoted a report from the Bilbao paper La
Gaceta del Norte that a UFO had landed.. at Maneru in Navarre Province,
and left marks.
Five children from Maneru were playing on a nearby hill at 4.00 p.m. when
they saw it land in a field of barley. They said it had a transparent cupola
on top and was a disc of metallic appearance
and some eight to ten metres wide.
From the machine, according to the children, there emerged a being more than
2 metres 30cm height. The being took a few paces in the field and then returned
to the disc.
He was dressed in a sort of black overall from head to feet.
The report stated that the representative of the Gaceta del Norte found five
big footprints in the field, and that these prints were over 40cm. long.
This case was also investigated by the Charles Fort Group of Valladolid.'

SEPTEMBER 1978 - ISLE OF ANGLESEY, UK.
'During the evening of Friday, September 1, 1978, the small Anglesey village
of Llanerchymedd was the location of a remarkable series of UFO sightings.
These included observations of a red and white bullet-shaped object seen to
descend to ground level, a rectangular purple and blue object with yellow
lights, and two independent sightings of strange humanoids...
...During the investigation on Saturday, September 9, Derek James and I located
an area in a crop field that appeared to have been badly disturbed. It looked
as though an object had gradually come down into the crop in a west to east
direction, eventually coming to a halt and swirling the barley in a clockwise
manner. The path was about 100 feet long, and the diameter of the swathed
area was some fifteen feet. A thorough investigation of this was made and
photographs were taken. Unfortunately the pictures of the area were not successful
and premature comment by certain individuals involved with the case meant
that this particular matter has become very confused.
The investigators could find no apparent rational cause for the traces,
namely the swathed barley and the path leading to it...'

May 1994 - ferritslevvej, denmark.
'..The
witness is a pensioner and works in his vegetable garden. He hears a low whistling
sound and looks up. At 150 metres utmost a blue-black object is flying above
a grain field. At a velocity of about 70 km/hour. While it is flying it moves
from one side to the other - it almost stands on its edge sometimes. It flies
under the power lines on the highway, over the highway and over a large barley
field, adjoining the man's property.
When the object is about 400-500 metres distant from him it almost stands
still in a depression in the field in front of the farm. Here it almost touches
the ground, then it flies on in a northern direction towards Ullerslev.
The object is approx. 1 metre in diameter and.. a little flatter than a perfect
ball.'

MAY 1997 - EAST DEVON, UK.
Graham Inglis and Jon Downes were approached by a farmer at a Devon County
Show, who
'...had been experiencing some very strange things.'
Over the previous few weeks, he'd heard nightly sounds of someone walking
around loudly on his kitchen floor (below where he slept), as well as sightings
of
'...strange lights hovering over a field of barley about a hundred yards from
his farm...'
Then, one morning '...he visited his chicken run.. to find about two thirds
of his fowls dead with no apparent injury...'

june 2000 (?) - southern russia.
A
Russian farmer reported serious damage to his field of ripe barley. Local
officials found '..four distinct circles - one 20 metres in diameter in the
centre and three outer ones 5-7m in diameter each.' In the middle of the largest
circle, there was a '..20-cm-deep cylindrical hole with polished walls.'
The barley had been smoothed down "as if by hand" in a clockwise
direction.
Eyewitnesses were found who said that they had seen a UFO land in the field.
Vasily Belchenko of the Stavropol security council stated: "There
is no doubt that it was not man-made.. An unknown object definitely landed
there.. Eyewitnesses say that the landing was very quick and the take-off
was immediate.. It all happened in a few seconds."
