Film maker Mikel Conrad claimed to have captured 90 feet of motion picture.
'HILLSIDER SWEARS HE'S SEEN, FILMED, AND INSPECTED FLYING SAUCERS - Mikel
Conrad, who lives at 1401 N.Sierra Bonita, in Los Angeles, swears he has photographed
eight flying saucers, landing and taking off, 40 miles north of Juneau, Alaska.
The government confiscated 900 feet of his film and released it with certain
restrictions a year later. "I give information I'm permitted to the press,"
he said, "and they try to verify it in Washington and get no answers.
Questions are completely ignored. But if you want to, go ahaead and print
it. It's all true."' (Los Angeles Canyon Crier,
29.4.1950)
In January 1950, Mr.Conrad's film 'The Flying Saucer' went on release in America. It reportedly contains some of the less remarkable footage of the saucers that had been obtained, included within the framework of a fictional story. The best frames showing the saucers, according to Mr.Conrad, were cut out by the Intelligence Agency who examined the footage, before they returned it to him months later.

27th, 1950
White Sands Proving Ground, New Mexico, USA.
'The guided missile test range at White Sands is fully instrumental to track
high, fast-moving objects - the guided missiles. Located over an area of many
square miles there are camera stations equipped with cinetheodolite cameras
and linked together by a telephone system.
On April 27, 1950, a guided missile had been fired, and as it roared up into
the stratosphere and fell back to earth, the camera crews had recorded its
flight. All the crews had started to unload their cameras when one of them
spotted an object streaking across the sky. By April 1950 every person at
White Sands was UFO-conscious, so one member of the camera crew grabbed a
telephone headset, alerted the other crews, and told them to get pictures.
Unfortunately only one camera had film in it, the rest had already been unloaded,
and before they could reload, the UFO was gone. The photos from one station
showed only a smudgy dark object. About all the film proved was that something
was in the air and whatever it was, it was moving...'

J.Ruppelt)

May 29th,
1950
White Sands Proving Ground, New Mexico, USA.
'..Alerted by this first chance to get a UFO to "run a measured course,"
the camera crews agreed to keep a sharper lookout. They also got the official
O.K. to "shoot" a UFO if one appeared.
Almost exactly a month later another UFO did appear, or at least at the time
the camera crews thought that it was a UFO. This time the crews scanned the
sky. Two of the crews saw it and shot several feet of film as the shiny, bright
object streaked across the sky.
As soon as the missile tests were completed, the camera crews rushed their
film to the processing lab and then took it to the Data Reduction Group. But
once again the UFO had eluded man because there were apparently two or more
UFO's in the sky and each camera had photographed a separate one..'
According to a major who found the people who had analysed the film '..the
UFO's were unknowns.. by putting a correction factor in the data gathered
by the two cameras they were able to arrive at a rough estimate of speed,
altitude, and size. The UFO was (estimated as) "higher than 40,000 feet,
traveling over 2,000 miles per hour, and it was over 300 feet in diameter."'

June
27th, 1950
Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
'Louisville, Ky., June 28 (U.P.) - The Louisville Times printed pictures today
of a "flying saucer" taken by one of its own photographers yesterday
afternoon.
The pictures, taken by Staff Photographer Al Hixenbaugh for WHAS-TV on movie
film, included 50 feet film in which a bright flying object showed clearly
throughout.
It Stood Still
Hixenbaugh, on assignment to take other shots for the station, suddenly heard
the roar of a plane above him, glanced up and saw both the plane and the "flying
disk" to its left.
He unlimbered his movie camera and shot, with one object appearing motionless
for about 10 seconds. "During that time," he said, "it stood
still like a balloon."
Then the object began to get smaller and finally vanished into the west. The
"saucer" appeared on all the the film he took, but the nearby plane
was out of the picture field quickly, appearing on only about 10 feet.
Air fields here said no planes had reported seeing such a disk yesterday and
the Air Force has denied repeatedly that "flying saucers" exist.'

Great Falls, Montana, USA.
Nicholas Mariana, manager of the semi-pro baseball team, the Great Falls Electrics,
was checking wind conditions prior to a game, when he noticed two extraordinary
bright white lights in the sky. While he rushed to his parked car to retrieve
his 16mm movie camera, Mr.Mariana shouted to his secretary about the lights.
Having got the (Revere, turret-type) camera and set it at F22/infinity, Mr.Mariana
was able to capture about 25 seconds(?) of footage of the UFOs. He later described
what he had seen as follows: a. Of a bright clear aluminium surface. b. Disc-shaped
- apparently had depth. c. Object appeared to be of metal material. d. Fifty
feet in diameter and three feet thick.
This film was subject to a variety of commentary and apparent intrigue - Nick
Mariana claimed the Air Force removed some of the best frames while it was
in their possession (the claim was supported by people who'd seen the footage
before and after) - and it remains one of the most famous UFO films in existence.

near Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanganyika.
Nine men and two women signed an affidavit stating that they had seen a bullet-shaped,
metallic object in the sky, while they were en route from Nairobi to Mombasa.
Two of the men tried to photograph the object - one succeeded - and another,
a radio officer named Ray Overstreet shot 30 feet of colour film with a telescopic
lens on his cine camera.
Articles about the sighting were published in Britain's
Sunday Dispatch and The Natal Mercury of South Africa.
Four years later, Waveney Girvan reported as follows:
'I later learnt that Mr.Overstreet, the person who took the colour film, was
on his way to the United States to show it to the authorities there. The name
of the vessel on which he was travelling was mentioned to me at the time,
and the date of his expected arrival. In spite of repeated requests from me
for further news, I have always drawn a complete blank as to the whereabouts
or the very existence of Mr.Overstreet.'

July
14th, 1951
White Sands Proving Ground, New Mexico, USA.
'..One new and important report came from guided-missile tracking base near
White Sands, New Mexico. On the morning of July 14, two radar operators caught
a fast-moving object on their scope. At the same time a tracker watching a
B-29 with binoculars saw a large UFO near the bomber. Another observer quickly
lined it up with his 35-mm. camera, then shot 200 feet of film. Because of
the altitude, the saucer showed only as a round, bright spot..'

Ralph C.Mayher obtained 16mm movie footage of an "orange, yellowish object
traveling at more than 2,000 m.p.h."
The event was reported in a Miami Daily News
article Marine Here Snaps 'Disc'.
Donald
Keyhoe also made a significant reference to this case in his last book 'Aliens
From Space':
'The drastic action taken against Ruppelt should have been a warning for NICAP.
But there had been no serious CIA interference in our three years of operation,
though we knew we were being watched. Several times, the CIA had tried to
pressure witnesses who had reported sightings to NICAP. In 1957, two CIA agents
had forced NICAP adviser Ralph Mayher to give them a UFO film. The agents
promised Mayher the AF would return it with a technical analysis, but all
he received was a section with the best frames cut out. It was mailed in a
plain envelope, with no analysis or other AF link..'

T.C.Drury of the Civil Aviation Dept.at Port Moresby, filming an unusual cloud
formation with a movie camera equipped with a telephoto lens, managed to capture
an unidentified object that shot upwards out of it. Mr.Drury was described
as a "reliable, credible person" by the former Air Minister.
His film, which ran to ninety-four frames, was reportedly examined by Royal
Australian Air Force Intelligence and 'experts' in the U.S.Air Force. When
the film was returned to Mr.Drury, the more significant part showing the object
was found to have been removed.

'In 1964, I met a gentleman from Brazil, Carlos Aitken, who was an Olympic
diving champion in 1956, and he told me that a friend of his was filming his
wife, a champion, also, while readying herself for a dive, not too long before
that, when flying saucers suddenly appeared in the sky behind her.
He took 45 feet of film and sent it to the Brazilian government which is a
law there. Much later the government returned only 15 feet of it. The U.S.
governemnt would have to admit saucers exist before it could pass such a law.
Brazil is one of the several countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Mexico,
Argentina, that have openly admitted to filming flying saucers and speculating
upon their outerspace origin.'

Gordon
Cooper, a Project Manager at Edwards Air Force Base, had assigned a photographic
team to an area near the Base. While there, they spotted and filmed an unidentified
circular aircraft as it hovered, then slowly came down over a lake bed. After
a few minutes it "..took off at quite a sharp angle and just climbed
straight on out of sight."
The footage was subsequently reviewed by Mr.Cooper at least a dozen times,
and then quickly forwarded to Washington. He never heard any more about it
- where is the film now?

in the sky. He exposed 8mm color film of the object using a 36mm. telephoto
lens. (A few frames of the film were submitted to NICAP, but the image is
too small to show detail.) When four jet interceptors converged on the UFO..
it drifted westward, tilting back and forth, "then pulled up in a short
arc and shot up out of sight in an estimated three seconds."'

'(But) shortly after this AF intelligence had another scare, when front page
stories reported the Antarctic sighting of an enormous flying disc. When the
Secretary of the Argentine Navy confirmed that motion pictures of the huge
flying object had been taken, some AF Headquarters officers feared the censorship
was doomed. If pictures of the spacecraft were released to the world press,
the results could be disastrous. Perhaps high Argentine officials realized
this. Perhaps they were persuaded to withhold the evidence. Whatever the answer,
the films were never released, and in the excitement of the '65 flap most
of the public forgot them.'
